Seeing the End Product

2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in His law he meditates day and night.
3 He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.

Psalm 1:2-3

Note that verse 3 refers to a tree and not a seed. What makes a tree different from a seed is the fact that a tree is matured and full grown. A tree is the end product of the seed. If the Bible likens the one who meditates upon God’s Word to a tree, it suggests that when you meditate on God’s Word, you create a picture of the end product. The Bible is full of what the end product ought to be in every area of your life.

Your mind is like a canvas. At first, when you start meditating on God’s Word, your mind is like an empty canvas. Then as you begin to meditate upon the Word of God by taking a verse of Scripture and revolving it over and over in your mind, it is a picture that is being painted. That picture is not the picture of a seed; it’s a picture of a tree. It’s a picture of the end or final product. It’s a picture of the desire or the longing that drew you to the Word of God in the first place. Maybe you are sick, without money, or you have one need or the other. As you meditate on the Word of God, you begin to create a picture of the tree: you see yourself healed, having more than enough, with all your needs met.

Take a part of the Word of God that addresses that desire or longing you have and meditate on it over and over again. By doing so, you will be painting a picture of the end product.

Confession: As I meditate on God’s Word day and night I paint pictures of the end result of my desires. I will experience this end product that I can see from the Word.
