INFECTED AT BIRTH

6 We are all infected and impure with sin. When we proudly display our righteous deeds, we find they are but filthy rags. Like autumn leaves, we wither and fall. And our sins, like the wind, sweep us away.

Isaiah 64:6 (NLT)

Every human being is infected and impure with sin at birth. The Scripture above says, “When we proudly display our righteous deeds we find they are but filthy rags”. That expression “filthy rags” actually describes the bandages on a leper’s wounds. Every offering a person gives and every good deed done in the state of a dead spirit (spiritual death), is like displaying the bandages from a leper’s wounds in place of a clean, white cloth; and asking God to be credited with some good, righteousness points. It’s nothing before God, because of the infection of the epidemic of sin.

That is the problem with religion. Religion is man’s way of trying to reach up to the standard of a good and righteous God by his good deeds, almsgiving, fasting and prayer. All these activities, without Christ, are like bandages on a leper’s wounds. Christianity, on the other hand, is a way of life. It is a good and righteous God reaching down to take the hand of a willing, fallen man and pulling him up to His righteousness.

Friend, it doesn’t matter how good a person is, or has been, or the extent of the “good works” they have done: they’re all rooted in that lie that says you don’t need God; you can do it by yourself. I’m yet to meet a creation that does not need its creator; I’m yet to meet a product that doesn’t need its manufacturer. On cars, I’m yet to see a Mercedes-Benz vehicle that doesn’t need to go to a Mercedes-Benz outlet, or service point, to get some spare parts after a while. So, except you came out from so-called evolution, or out of the erroneous big bang theory – if you were
created by God, and indeed you were, you need your Creator.

Everyone needs the Saviour, no one can make it on their own.

Confession:

God reached down to me in love, pulled me to Himself and made me His righteousness.
