God Takes Care of Little Things about Us

One of the heavy rains that fell at the beginning of this year brought about a major damage on the roof of our house, specifically the sitting room. Since it was a major damage, we reported to the firm managing the house and they brought someone to check the extent of the damage and promised to fix it immediately. Twice the rain fell and I had to put up basins in different locations to prevent a major flood in my sitting room. My birthday came and I invited my Family Outreach Group (F.O.G) members and a few friends over to my house. Since the F.O.G does not hold in my house, a lot of them were visiting my home for the first time and the last thing I needed was to embarrass my guests or give a bad impression. The firm promised to bring someone to fix it unfailingly on a Saturday, but they didn’t turn up. The next day was the Sunday for my birthday and it was too late to make alternative arrangement to fix it. That day, my F.O.G members and friends started coming and suddenly the clouds went dark. People were chatting, laughing, playing and having fun but I was so worried about what would happen when the rain falls. I looked out through my window and spoke to the rain. I said, “Rain do you want to embarrass me and my guests? You can’t fall today in Jesus’ name.” When my sitting room was filled to capacity, the rain started falling heavily. I knew the torrents that were about to descend on my guests in a few minutes but they were oblivious of it. The rain fell and fell; it poured, but not a single drop entered into the sitting room. God saved my face and delivered me from embarrassment.

For me to accept that it was a miracle, the rain fell the next day. Though it was not as heavy as that of the day before, the torrents came pouring into my sitting room. I had taken for granted what happened the day before so I just stayed in my room when it started. When I came out to the sitting room, I saw the floods. I screamed out loud, “Oh, yesterday was indeed a miracle!” God had put up a “bigger basin” on my roof a day before to prevent the rain from disturbing the gathering. I give God praise because this goes to show that God takes care of little things about us; it may not be in the way we want it but He still does. I thought the only way out of the embarrassment was for the rain not to fall, but the rain fell and it didn’t enter my house. That for me was a major miracle. I thank God for His faithfulness. The Word works.
