15 Then the LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it.
21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place.
22 Then the rib which the LORD God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man.
Genesis 2:15, 21-22
It would appear that God created man more than once. There was a process He went through, when He made Adam and Eve. In Genesis 1:26, God created man (male and female) in His image. Then in Genesis 2:7 God formed man (male) out of the dust of the ground. Genesis 2:20-23 explains what happened. When God made Adam, Eve was in him because He had made them both in His image. So God could look at Adam and saw Adam and Eve. Then He made Eve, out of the side of Adam.
When Jesus hung on the cross, one of the soldiers pierced His side. When he did so, blood and water came out of Jesus’ pierced side (John 19:31-34). Jesus was buried and then on the third day He rose up from the dead; but He did not come up alone. He came out with a beautiful, gorgeous lady who has never known any sin. We can say that she came out from His pierced side. That gorgeous, beautiful lady is the Church of Jesus Christ. Just like Eve came out from the side of Adam, so the Church came out from the side of Jesus Christ!
When Eve came out, everything for her enjoyment was already there. It had been taken care of. God had given Adam a job to dress the garden and name the animals before He brought Eve on the scene. In the same way, when you showed up as a result of the resurrection, everything necessary for your salvation, joy and pleasure was there. Jesus paid every price and the grace of God put every provision in place for you as a new creation in Jesus Christ.
Confession:
I am a new creation. I came out of the pierced side of Christ.
