FAITH PUTS YOU IN CHARGE

5 And the apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith.”
6 So the Lord said, “If you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.
7 And which of you, having a servant plowing or tending sheep, will say to him when he has come in from the field, ‘Come at once and sit down to eat’?
8 But will he not rather say to him, ‘Prepare something for my supper, and gird yourself and serve me till I have eaten and drunk, and afterward you will eat and drink’?
9 Does he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I think not.”

Luke 17:5-9

Jesus is saying here that there’s no one who has a servant, who will tell his servant when he comes in from the field, “Sit down first, have a drink, and when you have eaten and rested, please, can you help me fix something to eat?” No. If you have a servant (in the true sense of the word) and you want your servant to do something, you just say it and keep doing what you were doing before. You don’t look to see whether or not the servant obeyed. You assume that the servant should obey immediately.

Jesus gave the analogy to say that your faith should expect situations to obey. Your faith should not consider it a big deal for situations to obey. Faith expects the situation to obey as a servant. Faith is the master; it’s in charge.

He also said to them the smallest faith has all it takes to be master over the biggest situation. The mustard seed faith has all it takes to be in charge over a sycamore tree problem. Even if your faith is small, the situation will do what your faith tells it to do. It’s as simple as that. Now can you believe that?

Confession:
Faith is the master; the situations of my life are servants. The situations of my life obey my faith as a servant would obey his master. Situations do what my faith tells them to do.
