12 For You, O LORD, will bless the righteous; with favour You will surround him as with a shield.
Psalm 5:12
I got up that morning and began to pack my suitcase. About 30 minutes into my packing, my husband who was in Abuja called and said, “You wouldn’t guess who called me.” I said, “Right now, I will believe anything. Who called you?” He said it was the Consul General himself. The man had gone home with our letter and he was profusely apologetic saying that he did not see any reason whatsoever why my visa was refused. He then asked if “Mrs. Ene would be so kind as to come to Lagos.” (You can be sure that Mrs. Ene was ready to go to Lagos, her suitcase was already packed by faith!). Later that evening Mrs. Ene went to Lagos on the last flight.
The next morning, I arrived at the American Embassy, clothed in the favour of God. I did not go the general entrance for visa applicants; I went to the special entrance. At the special gate I told them I had an appointment with the Consul General and my name was in his appointment book. When the book was checked, my name was not there. Incidentally, the Consul General had told us his secretary’s name. So I said, “Call the secretary.” The lady confirmed the Consul General was expecting me. The security men at the gate were astounded and an air of “Who can this lady be?” was all over them! I could have named myself “Favour” at that moment!
Once I got in, I submitted my passport. About an hour later, I went into the Consul General’s office. My visa was already on my passport. He gave it to me and said it was considered the same application. So there is no record that I was ever refused an application. What he called me into his office to do was to apologize to me and try to find out what exactly happened. I just kept telling him I didn’t know for sure. The lady never told me it was because I had children in the USA, but I knew that was her problem. After handing me my passport, he even gave me his personal mobile number.
The key is this: you have to take charge of the situation. It may be in a case of favour, it may be in a case of healing, it maybe in a case of a job. This is why you must have faith.
Confession:
I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. I am blessed and surrounded with favour as with a shield. God’s favour opens doors for me and does things that are humanly impossible.
