25 The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their food in the summer.
Proverbs 30:25
The ants work in troops. Learn from the ants. If you are going to succeed, you must develop a strategy that works. Strategy is a military term which refers to the art of manoeuvring an army. It is the peculiar way in which something is done. Somebody once came to me and said he wanted to go into a particular kind of business and it sounded like a good idea to me. Then I asked him, “What is your plan? What strategy do you intend to use to sell the product?” He said, “Oh, the product sells!” I asked again: “How do you plan to sell your own product?” He had no answer. A lot of Christians don’t have strategies because they are venturing into businesses that are not their own dreams. They saw somebody else doing something that looked successful and they decided to copy them.
The ants have an inadequacy in that they are not strong; it is for this reason that they work in troops. You will always see the ants in great numbers because if they work as individuals, they will not meet their targets. The only way “a people not strong,” can care for themselves is to have a strategy that works. Therefore, your strategy takes care of your inadequacy. The ants move in troops and work in harmony. Their strategy gives them an advantage. If you have a strategy, it should give you an advantage over your competition. It should not only cover up for your disadvantage, it should also give you an advantage.
Your disadvantages are no reasons for you not to be successful in life. Your disadvantage should bring out the ingenuity in you. That ingenuity is known as strategy. In military warfare, if your opponent is twenty thousand in number and you are ten thousand, it would be foolish of you to decide that the strategy to use in the warfare will be one-on-one combat. Common sense will tell you that one-on-one combat will fail you because you are outnumbered.
In order to develop a strategy, you have to sit down and think. It does not just fall out of heaven unto your lap.
Confession:
Christ is made wisdom unto me. In His wisdom is the knowledge of witty inventions. I receive inventions and strategies from Him to cater for my inadequacies.
