Another dimension in which you need to take off your prison clothes is in your actions. Many people are wearing prison clothes wherever they go. When you go for a job test or an interview, don’t be arrogant or pompous. It will be so obvious that the employer will realize that he doesn’t need such a proud person in his organization. In a state of true humility, let the employer know your abilities until he gets to a point where he sees he can’t do without you.

On the other extreme, Christians should not walk around like they are “worms” with their shoulders drooping and heads bowed down. Such religion releases a stench of inferiority and a lack of self worth that causes doors to be shut in your face. Then the enemy takes advantage of you.

He maximizes and magnifies every situation and tells you God hasn’t really forgiven you of something you have repented of. Then you agree with him and tell yourself God couldn’t have forgiven you, because if He had, you would have succeeded. You are keeping your prison clothes on.

Even if you’ve made a mistake several times, it’s not enough to put on prison clothes by acting as though God has not forgiven you. Christ became sin for you so that you might become the righteousness of God in Him. So be humble, but be confident in who you are. Put off those prison clothes. You don’t have to help Him evangelize prison clothes. He doesn’t need that kind of evangelism. Wear your robe of righteousness and balance self confidence and humility in all you do.
