2 The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
Psalm 18:2
I recall when fear tried to use the element of surprise on my family and I. Glory be to God, we were fully aware that day that we lived in a fortress.
We were on our way to church, and incidentally it was a Sunday morning and I was going to preach a message titled Exposing The Spirit Of Fear. At that time, the area where the church was located was undeveloped. We were one of the few occupants of the new area. The road was untarred and it was raining on that day. Suddenly, the enemy tried to pull out his joker.
Some young boys jumped out of the nearby bush and they were armed with guns. The enemy chose the wrong day. I tell you, if there was a day we should not have been held up, it was the day I was going to talk about the spirit of fear. My heart was full of this revelation and we just sat down there without any fear at all. There might have been a gun pointed at us from the window but the surprise element was not there. One thing I knew was that, the gun had to go through all the security gadgets in my divine fortified place. I was not going to let the death behind that nozzle come in. There was no harm to any of us. The boys stole my husband’s laptop and ran off into the bush. Two days later, the laptop was recovered with all the data intact. Hallelujah!
Fear tries to use the element of surprise, but know that as a child of God, you live in a fortress. Every part of your body is in a fortress; your finances are in a fortress; your children are in a fortress; even your future, is in a fortress! The Devil can only get to those things if you decide to let the visitor in. As long as you refuse to let them in, they can’t come in and they won’t come in! Your will remains a major player in what you experience as a believer.
Never forget that.
Confession:
I live in a divine fortified place. Everything that concerns me is in my divine fortified place.
