An Aggressive Reward

14 So he said, “What then is to be done for her?” And Gehazi answered, “Actually, she has no son, and her husband is old.”
15 So he said, “Call her.” When he had called her, she stood in the doorway.
16 Then he said, “About this time next year you shall embrace a son.” And she said, “No, my lord. Man of God, do not lie to your maidservant!”
17 But the woman conceived, and bore a son when the appointed time had come, of which Elisha had told her.

2 Kings 4:14-17

Most people love a happy ending in a story. I am not much of a movie watching person, but I know that when I do get round to watching a faith-based movie, I certainly want it to have a happy ending! Someone says, “Well that is not true life.” I choose to disagree. It depends on what life you are living and what life you are expecting!

The story of our aggressive giver – the great woman of Shunem had a happy ending. She got an aggressive reward. This woman had no son and did not believe God that she could have a child anymore because her husband was old. Thank God that aggressive giving creates life where there is no life, and results in an aggressive reward. It opens doors where there are no doors. It makes the impossible possible. When the Shunammite woman was told that she was going to have a child, she told the man of God not to deceive her. The Shunammite woman and her husband had reached a point where they could not believe for a child anymore but there was another man, Elisha, who had seen God perform miracles. This man had been a recipient of the woman’s giving and he was very inspired to be a blessing to her. In Hausa language, he would be described as being in a state of senti – a state of bliss created by a very satisfying meal!

With the power of her partnership with Elisha, the woman and her husband received an aggressive reward. There are some things you may not believe God for anymore, but when you come into partnership with a true ministry or a genuine minister of the gospel, you will get an aggressive reward and it will get to you in the Name of the Lord Jesus.

Confession:
Father, I thank You because my aggressive giving yields results, and makes the impossible become possible, in Jesus’ Name.
