7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.

There is no type of sin that you will mention that His blood cannot handle. Here is something to make you really understand this: a blank cheque!

What the blood of Jesus purchased for you and made available to you is similar to being given a blank cheque for an account that has money in it. Imagine somebody giving you such a cheque, signed by the valid signatory. This cheque automatically gives you access to everything that is in the account. You determine how much you fill in the blank space and what you fill in is what you withdraw from the bank.

In this case, the valid signatory is the blood of Jesus. God is “filthy rich” in mercy and grace and He gave you a signed blank cheque. If you have a need of mercy that is so big, all you have got to do is draw on the account. God’s mercy covers any and every sin. You draw on it using the precious Name of Jesus. That is why He said, “…Whatever you ask in My name, that I will do…” (John 14:13). “Oh,” you say, “Even after I got saved, I slept with somebody else’s wife.” That is a horrible and disgusting thing to do. I cannot even begin to stomach the idea of a man leaving his wife, and going to sleep with somebody else’s wife. In fact, it is even more horrible to imagine that the person whose wife you slept with was your brother! I will probably say to you, “What kind of a human being are you?” Then in total disgust, I would withdraw the blank cheque or cancel it completely.

Thank God the cheque does not belong to me! The blank cheque is God’s to give to whomsoever He pleases, and He has given it to you. It is His good pleasure to overwhelm you with the riches of His grace – His underserved and unmerited grace. Draw on your blank cheque using the Name of Jesus.
