15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.”
The words of Jesus here are very simple but they really excite me. His words here make up what we call the “Great Commission.” The foundation of the Great Commission is Christ. If Christ had not come, there would have been no Great Commission. If Christ had not died on the cross, there would have been no Great Commission. If Christ had not risen from the dead, there would have been no Great Commission.
Something else that excites me more than that is this: the foundation of the success of the Great Commission is not necessarily just prayer or fasting – it is money! Praise God for people are getting born again because Christ died on the cross for their sins and He resurrected from the grave. However, the stark reality is that many more people are going to hell without accepting the salvation made available by that sacrifice because money is not available to send the gospel to them. It takes money to plan crusades, travel to remote areas, go on television and radio, print books and magazines, and so much more. So if you are uncomfortable talking about money because you are so “spiritual,” or so “religious,” then it also means you don’t have a passion for souls because someone with a passion for souls understands that the foundation of the success of the Great Commission is money.
The Great Commission broken down is Christ saying: “Bring the money so we can send people to preach so they can hear, so they can believe, so they can call upon the Name of the Lord so that they can be saved” (Romans 10:13-15). It doesn’t matter how spiritual you are, without money, the Great Commission will not be successful. Can you dare to have more than enough or are you satisfied having just enough or not enough all your life?
Confession: Christ is the foundation of the Great Commission. Money is the foundation of the success of the Great Commission. I use my money to send people to preach the gospel so that the sinner can hear the gospel and be saved.
