17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.
John 20:17 (KJV)
After Jesus had died on the cross, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to His tomb to sit down opposite it and look at it. On the first day of the week, she was at the tomb very early, not because she expected to find the tomb empty; but because she just wanted to be near where her Master lay. Such was her addiction to her Master.
Imagine then, how excited Mary would have been when she recognized that the Man she saw alive was Jesus! Her precious Master! She wanted to fall at His feet and grab His legs but Jesus stopped her. Jesus was preserving and protecting the purpose of His blood. He stopped her and what He said in essence meant, “Don’t touch Me. There is something I have to do. There is a purpose behind what I did on Calvary and I want to take that thing to completion. So right now, I can’t let you interfere with what I want to do.”
Jesus had risen from the dead. He rose with His blood and He was carrying His blood. He said, “There is a purpose. This thing is so precious. It is more precious than silver. It is more precious than gold, and I know what this thing is to achieve in the lives of My brethren. So, do not interfere with Me. I am taking this blood somewhere.”
In the Old Testament, the blood of bulls and goats was used in the Holy Place to make atonement for the people of Israel; but that was just a pattern. Now, Jesus went into heaven. He went to the real Holy Place. When He went there, He did not go empty handed. He rose from the grave and entered heaven for my sake, and for your sake and He did not go empty handed. He went with His blood.
My heart desire for you is that you will begin to see the purpose of that precious blood, which Jesus shed and preserved and presented in heaven ñ just for you.
Confession: Jesus shed His precious blood and went to heaven with it for me.
