21 And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also.
1 John 4:21

Remember when the woman with the issue of blood came to be healed by Jesus? There may have been other rabbis or other leaders of the synagogue present, when she pressed through the multitude to touch Jesus. The apostles were also there, but it was Jesus she touched, knowing that Jesus possessed the power to heal her. When she did, Jesus knew that the power flowed out of Him. He said, “Somebody touched Me, for I perceived power going out from Me” (Luke 8:46). The principle here is that it is only what you have got within you that can come out of you. That is why the commandment to love is not a grievous or burdensome one. God took care of everything before He commanded you to love your brother: He conceived you in love and shed His love abroad in your heart thereby filling you up with love. It was then He said, “Love your brother.” By this commandment, He’s actually telling you to be yourself! Therefore, when you face any situation or someone with any condition comes in contact with you, it is agape love that comes out of you. When you are being yourself, you are not acting. So if love is not coming out of you, then maybe you haven’t bothered to find out who you really are.

Many times we say, “God is love.” How many of us have dared to say, “I am love?” Yet we have the same DNA and nature as God. If you have the same DNA with God, then you should also be able to say, “If God is agape love, then I am agape love.” The more you learn about it, the easier it is for you to begin to bridge the gap between who you are positionally and what you express.

Some of us are experts at expressing the complete opposite of agape. That does not change the truth that you are born of God, conceived and filled up with His love, “…poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us”(Romans 5:5). When God “looks down over the banisters of heaven,” as is commonly said, and sees you, He sees a love child. You have in you the same love that sent Jesus to the cross. He filled you up with His love because He’s sending so many opportunities your way for you to express who you are. We are ambassadors of agape love here on earth.

Confession: I am love. I am an ambassador of agape. I take advantage of the opportunities that come my way to demonstrate the love of God.
