20 My son, give attention to my words; incline your ear to my sayings.
21 Do not let them depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart;
22 For they are life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh.
One of the meanings of the word “health” in verse 22 is physician. God is a Physician and the way He performs His own surgery is always in line with His Word. I will definitely prefer to have God perform a surgical operation on me rather than men, because when men operate on you, they might leave a scar on your body and they never guarantee you 100% success. However, God’s Word works always and God doesn’t leave a scar!
Notice that the verse doesn’t say that the Word will be health to their “spirit.” It says the Word is health to all their “flesh.” Flesh doesn’t sound like your inner man’s spirit or soul; it’s your physical body. Do you know why the Word of God doesn’t work for many people? They try to mystify it. They say that the Word is health to their spirit, only. No, God meant what He said in His Word: the Word is health to all your flesh. Don’t be one of those who veil their eyes from seeing the truth in God’s Word by putting on religious and traditional glasses and then change the meaning of what God says. God simply says what He means and He means everything He says. He has said, “I am the Lord who heals you” (Exodus 15:26). He is your Physician!
Someone asks, “If God heals then what are doctors needed for?” They are needed for those who don’t even know anything about faith and for those who are still building their faith to receive divine healing. I believe medicine is God’s invention and the medical profession is a gift from God. However, as a believer, you should aim to develop your faith to the point where you can successfully stand on the Word and resist any attack of sickness and disease. Jehovah Rapha is our Healer and His Word is our medicine.
Confession: God is my Healer. His Word is health to all my flesh. Whatever part of my body needs to be healed and operated on, I know His Word is up to the task.
