23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
“Wages” means payment or salary. As long as a people work, they receive wages. When you were born, you were born infected with sin. That means that at birth sin was at work in you. As long as sin is at work, it’s got to be paid. Sin does not work for free, it gets paid, and the wages of sin is death. Spiritual death is separation from God. So if you don’t want separation from God, you’ve got to put a stop to the working of sin in your life.
If you want a change in the kind of salary or payment you have been receiving, if you want a change in the pattern of things in your life, you’ve got to stop trying to solve the outward problem. That is what every single religion tries to do, by telling you what to do and what not to do, and telling you to change by your deeds. The only way to change is from the inside out. That’s why man needs the new creation. The new creation is the means of changing from inside out.
Getting born again is not about coming to church. Hanging around people who are born again, speaking “Christian lingo” in the pretence that you are born again, when truly you are not, is deception. Salvation is not by association, neither is it by inheritance. You can’t say because your father is a good man or your family members are Christians, you are born again.
A great man of God may preach all over the world, but his children have got to make a decision to be born again for themselves. Everybody is responsible for their own souls.
Confession: I am a new creation in Christ Jesus. I am changed from inside out.
