YOUR MIND: FEAR’S ACCESS TO YOUR LIFE

3 Though an army may encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war may rise against me, in this I will be confident.
Psalm 27:3

The sole purpose of fear is to steal from you, to kill and destroy you. How then does fear get into your life and begin to carry out this evil mission against you? It gets in through your heart. David said, “My heart shall not fear,” showing that fear takes place in the heart. The word “heart” is the word that means feelings, will, intellect or mind. David was saying, “My mind shall not fear.” So fear not only gains access through the mind; fear dwells in the mind. Therefore, if you want to make sure that fear does not operate in your life, the first thing you have to do, is to keep your mind shut to fear. You have to guard your mind. You have to barricade your mind completely.

Proverbs 4:23 says, “Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.” The word “keep” means to protect and guard. The word “issues” means exit, boundary, or border. Your mind is the area through which fear gains access. Your mind is the entrance or the exit of all kinds of things in and out of your life. Maybe there is something you see in your life that you don’t like? Your mind let it in, your mouth spoke it out, and then your actions completed the cycle.

Your mind gets negative inputs from the sense realm. This happens on a per second, per minute, per hour and daily basis in the world we live in today. A commitment to victory in life must be a commitment to guarding your mind. Therefore, guarding your eyes, your ears: guarding the things you see and you hear will keep fear out. Through your eye-gates and ear-gates you let negative things get into your mind. When these things get into your mind, and you brood on them, fear gains access into your life. What happens next is that the spirit of fear controls your life and you begin to carry out all its functions. What you then experience can only be the evil fruit of fear.

Confession: My mind is very powerful. It is the gateway through which the spirit of fear wants to come into my life. Today, I make a commitment to barricade my mind through guarding what I see and hear.
