22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
Victory does not come by hearing alone. It also comes by the things you say and do. What you hear will affect what you think. What you think will in turn affect what you say, and what you say and think will affect what you do. Kenneth E. Hagin said, “Faith is proving God’s Word by acting on it.” James 1:21 says, “…Receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.” To “engraft” means to implant. How does the Word get implanted or engrafted in you? It is by hearing and speaking. James then goes on to say, “…be doers of the word…” (James 1:22). The implanted Word bears fruit when you become a doer of the Word.
The woman with the issue of blood had heard, and then she began to think over what she heard. At some point, she began to say it and there was a day she got up against all odds and acted on what she heard. She said, “Enough is enough! I’ve got to prove this thing that I’ve heard and I am speaking.” Victorious believers are those who will rise up against all odds and act when there is no reason for them to do so. Victorious believers are those who will rise up and act even when there is a chance that they will be scorned and laughed at. Victorious believers are those who will risk shame, mockery and scorn to rise up and act on what they have heard, said and believed.
Faith is when you act on God’s Word. You don’t prove God’s Word by sitting around and hoping that God’s Word will change your situation. If you believe it, then rise up and act like it is so, and when you act like it is so, then you prove God’s Word. Then God’s Word has no option than to be what you say it is, because you rose up in faith and you did what you said you believed.
Confession: I implant God’s Word in me by hearing, speaking and acting upon it. I prove God’s Word by acting upon it. I act upon the Word like it is so. The Word of God is to me what I say it is because I act upon what I believe.
