WORKING WITH A DIFFERENT REPORT

17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Romans 10:17

25 Now a certain woman had a flow of blood for twelve years,
26 and had suffered many things from many physicians. She had spent all that she had and was no better, but rather grew worse.
27 When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment.
28 For she said, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.”
Mark 5:25-28

Faith comes by hearing; but the victory does not come just by hearing. The famous story of the woman with the issue of blood bears very good witness to this (Mark 5:25-34).

The Bible says she had heard about Jesus. She didn’t sit in her house, hoping that this Jesus she had heard about would come her way. She could have waited, hoping for it to happen by a word of knowledge or by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, but she decided to take charge of the situation. How did she do that? She began to say what she had heard, because what you hear is what you will think about and meditate upon and then speak.

The woman with the issue of blood had heard all kinds of awesome things about Jesus: how Jesus raised the dead; how blind eyes were opened; how the lame were healed. What did she do with what she heard? She pondered over it. I’m sure she went to bed at night and for the first time she was no longer meditating on the doctors’ reports. She no longer thought about the many physicians at whose hands she had suffered before she heard about Jesus.

Before this time, I’m sure she had laid down on her bed several times and thought of the doctor who diagnosed her; how that doctor painfully examined her. By the time he was done, he said, “I have never seen anything like this in all my years of practice.” Then one day something changed. She heard about a different doctor and His Name is Jesus and He had a different report.

Confession: I receive a different report from the Word of God, but I am not just a hearer of the report of the Word of God; I work with the Word of God by speaking and thinking upon it.
